Game 2: For Love or Money

Wherin the party learn that giant rats that walk on two legs do exist.
The party splits up at this point with only Spam Gangree and Steve Taylor stopping in Mittlersdorf for news and abuse. While there, they meet up with Malikor Tromley, late of the Mittlersdorf town guard.

These three find themselves once again on the trail of a missing girl. This time Bela Dustermann a local dealer in antiques and curios enlists the party to find his young ward Julianne. He fears she has fallen in with a bad crowd and has run off with her paramour, a local thief and outlaw named Rudiger Kaltblut. Naturally they accept the commission.

The party track the thugs to their mountain lair only to find that all of them have been brutally murdered. A search of their cave reveals holes leading into a tunnel which comes out on the far side of the hill. Once there the party runs afoul of a group of skaven who are holding Julianne. The skaven are initially willing to negotiate although they claim the girl belongs to them. Apparently some guy in Mittlersdorf sold her to them. Smelling a rat, the party kills the skaven (barely) and return the girl to town.

Upon returning the girl to Bela Dustermann the party ask about what the rat men said. Bela insisted that some time ago he had been waylaid by the nasty brutes and made a deal with them in exchange for his life. He never intended to hold up his end of the bargain, of course, but now he supposes the skaven are back to claim their prize. Naturally he asked the party to help guard his house as he felt the skaven would be back. They are not brave creatures but they are persistent. Snookered, the party agreed to keep an eye on things while Bela saw to his beloved daughter.

As one would expect, a huge fracas developed as the skaven attacked the house. Hearing a commotion inside, our heroes ran in to see what was going on. Heading upstairs they found themselves in what appeared to be a laboratory. There, Bela's bodyguard was desparately holding off the skaven who had attacked through the upper story windows. Moving to the defense, the party realized just what Bela Dustermann was up to. On the slab was Julianne, or at least the creature that used to be Julianne. Bela had evidently been experimenting on the poor girl and she was rapidly becoming a monstrous chaos blob of ick. With a great deal of fuss, fighting and jumping out of windows, the group saved the day by setting the house on fire. Bela, the skaven, and his blasphemous creation were snuffed by the flames.
